The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Aftermath Ent. is Dr. Dre, followed by Eminem & 50. Now Dre is most def. a legend in the rap game hands down. Eminem broke the stereotypical barrier of white boys not being able to rap amongst other things. 50…well 50 changed the game this decade amongst other things as well. G-Unit, popular due to 50’s involvement – similar to D12 with Em.
The aftermath label has a legend, plus 2 legends in the making. That’s great n all, but what about all the artists that were either signed to the label or close to and never did? Artists that could’ve made killa albums over Dre beats n had cameos by the Aftermath roster, but never got the chance.
Artists such as:
Busta – 1 album n dipped out
Game – I know what went down, but if handled properly had he not been put in G-Unit? The what if’s are endless
Obie – Nigga was solid, but never got much hype n mainstream love due to lack of promoting.
Stat Quo – Homie is hungry and had his album waiting…and waiting…and waiting…till he finally got fed up and left the label.
Joell Ortiz – Now I know he’s smashin up with Slaughterhouse, who may get a deal with Shady Records, but he was signed under Dre and just sat there waiting as well.
Rakim – Had creative differences with Dre, and we never got to hear the Oh, My God album.
The list goes on from Raekwon, Nas, Gage, Focus, Creekwater, Eve etc… almost, if not all of the above artists could have dropped classic albums through the Aftermath empire. Dre is running Aftermath similar to the way Diddy is running Bad Boy and the way Death Row was – basing your label around 1 or 2 artists. It only works for so long, you need to have others creating buzz making a name for themselves as the big 3 wait to drop their albums.
Dre isn’t getting any younger, either is em or 50…once their out of touch with what’s going on – they’re done. Who on the label right now is gonna carry the torch? D12?… I don’t think so. G-Unit?…Banks is dope on the mix tape circuit, but mainstream he hasn’t done much, i.e Rotten Apple. Yayo…no comment, I guess if I were best friends with Obama growing up I’d get to ride him to the White House and get his coffee too. Bishop Lamont is hot, but they haven’t done much to sell him to the public. G-Unit Records has more artists coming and going without anyone knowing – they’re like a house party, niggas come in get some drink n pussy n bounce, n most people didn’t kno who they were n never see em again. Slim da Mobster is a new signing, and we’ve yet to see how he’s gonna be handled so can’t say much on that homie.
So what’s left after the "3 headed monster"?…From the look’s of it not too much, a bunch of could’ve beens and what if’s are the only things that will remain. Unless Dre can do what he does best and create another star, of course after he drops Detox in 2018. Em did good with his re-up album showcasing his shady Records roster, but after that no singles from any of the acts, nothing – except for people droppin out the label.
Dre needs a new pet, bring Game back and create a Documentary 2? Get Slaughterhouse under Shady, and bring back the feelin of the Wu? 50 takes a look at his roster and pulls Mazaradi, 40, Hot Rod, Spider Loc or the fuckin easter bunny and focus’s on them to get a hot album out? Whatever it is, something needs to go down with the Aftermath empire – Dre, Em n 50 can’t do it all forever, new blood is needed on the streets and they have the power to do it.
Remember, just ‘cause you pour syrup on something doesn’t make it pancakes!

Sadly tho I think Game has lost touch. He dosnt have that grimmyness that he once had, I mean just go listen to “dreams” and then go listen to “The Future” lol. Thats a little unfair but you get my point.
Rakim dosnt need anything… Rakim is a classic… He could fucking write poetry about flowers and I would buy it… Sad, dont get me wrong, wish he would come out with more albums like OMG.
Again well produced blog. Enjoyed reading it.
Jesu2if slaughterhouse were to get beats from dre..i just couldnt imagine the things that joell ortiz and crooked i would do to those beats
they dont think about all that though, all of them are set for life, they arent thinking about the label, they’re building there bank account up for when they retire
banks dropped from interscope
buck dropped from interscope
stat quo no albums after like 6 years
busta one album
game dropped
rakim left because dre wouldn’t let him rap how he wanted to, told him to be “harder” and “more gangster”
crooked i never signed and was supposed to
knocturnal good album that never comes out
obie leaves
truth hurts leaves the label
the firm…. nas foxy az and nature didn’t make any money because dre wanted exclusive rights. cormega didn’t even sign
green lantern dropped for saying jada would eat 50 in a battle
and east cost rappers ( monkey )
and the non-southern rapperz
u change your mind every 2 seconds
Yeah I think Dre needs Game!!!
It would be a nice experiment if Slaughterhouse would sign to Shady Records, but Slaughterhouse is already than the Wu-Tang to me.
A question to all of Ya.
Wouldn’t it be great to hear Weezy on a Dre beat?
Ps. No Cellings is the best mixtape of all time
hip hop weekly mixtape series over no ceilings
block obama mixtape series over no ceilings
plenty of mixtapes out there better than no ceilings.. just to many dickriders of weezy on the net.. he aint even that great wat he can spit a decent 16 once or twice a year? yea consistency isnt needed to make u a great artist huh?
only thing i respect about weezy is that he hops on anyones tracks to help them get a lil shine goin
ur my favorite superhero
and 50 is a fool for his recent diss against buck, he should rather get him back than startin new beef. Buck put the G in G Unit. 50 got signed like… 10000 artists and cant bring anyone out
“Too Many Rappers Not Enough Mc’s”
